Fertility

Pre-Conception

For couples who are trying to conceive, and are considering acupuncture and Oriental Medicine to assist them, take a look at this pre-conception plan that I recommend. There is a large amount of information on this site, so here are some basics and most important rules to guide you.

  • No cell phones in the pockets

  • No laptops on the lap

  • Eat as close to 100% organic as possible

  • No smoking, as it severely reduces chances of pregnancy

  • Cut out caffeine, as it reduces movement in the fallopian tubes (Read this article)

  • Extremely limit or cut out alcohol (read this study where alcohol, even in moderate amounts, causes a reduction in pregnancies)

  • Read about Chinese Medicine and Fertility to better understand the process you will be using to bring your body into balance (see below)

These precautions will be modified to fit your individual diagnosis, but are good general guidelines to help you get started. The following are a list of studies on the benefits of Oriental Medicine and Assisted Reproductive Technology for women already involved with, or choosing to use ART. Chinese Medicine is very beneficial as an adjunct treatment, increasing success rates of IVF and IUI.
