What To Expect
Before your first visit, please take some time to fill out the Mindful Wellness Intake Form provided. Bring it in and we will discuss your current health issues and your goals for improving them. Expect a health interview for about 20 - 30 minutes, and then an acupuncture treatment for 25 - 40 minutes. Any body work needed will follow as well as discussion about an herbal formula if necessary. Depending on the patient, yoga and qi gong exercise will be given, along with diet recommendations, and any necessary lifestyle guidance.
Many people ask if acupuncture hurts. The responses from most people vary from not even feeling the needles going in, to feeling a slight achey sensation like pressing on a bruise. After your treatment you will feel very relaxed and usually have a sensation of lightness and flow. With stronger treatments where pain is an issue you are being treated for, it is common to feel slightly achey for a day and then relief of pain on the second day forward.
To maximize the effectiveness of your acupuncture treatment, you should have a moderately full stomach, having eaten within 2 hours prior to your treatment. If you notice you have not eaten in 4 hours and are about to go in for a treatment, have a light snack. This is better than a completely empty stomach. It is also best to not consume alcohol just prior to your acupuncture treatment.
Please reach out should you have any other questions.
